Businesses I tried and failed miserably

1. Hosting reseller.

I did all the math, and I told myself I would thus have a steady stream of monthly recurring revenue with my hosting reseller business😢😁.

I called it Hostenity, and I was all set, but it needed an up-front investment, of around 17 pounds every month,

I paid that.

But one thing I seriously overlooked, was not the website.

I knew how to do that.

I built a good website and I was ready to go, as a solopreneur.

So, what I overlooked was marketing. Not that I didn't know that I would need it, I sure did know I would need it.

But even though I was aware, I thought I could start with as little as $10 marketing budget😭🤣💔

I burned through all that money, and got one client who didn't even commit and I would later be forced to issue a refund.

Hostenity, died, and so did my dreams of trying a web hosting reselling business.

What went wrong?

I think everything, from planning, to execution.

I rushed into the whole thing, without enough capital, so if I could do it again, I would definitely plan for the marketing budget because in all fairness, there is big competition in the web hosting business.

Despite absolutely failing at Hostenity, I took a different approach and launched Brandfletch Dev, using a whole different approach from what failed with Hostenity.

With Brandfletch Dev, we basically pitch and build websites for the clients, host them, and so we are not just selling web hosting, we are selling a whole web dev and website management package.

While Hostenity failed, we have managed to accrue a good number of clients to make Brandfletch Dev successful by learning from what didn't work in my last attempt.

Right now, we are working on an online furniture store for Akonzi Sofa Furniture, and a website for Meeplemania Games among others.
